Il magazine Ultimate Classic Rock si è cimentato nella classica “missione impossibile” della critica musicale: scegliere le 100 migliori canzoni della storia del rock. La redazione presenta così la classifica completa, riconoscendo subito l’ampiezza del campo preso in esame: “La lista delle 100 migliori canzoni rock non si limita ai classici dischi rock’n’roll – precisa Michael Gallucci nella introduzione – Comprende anche pop, soul, disco e metal, generi che secondo la nostra testata rientrano comunque nella grande area del rock, o forse, in senso ancora più esteso, della musica popolare. In questa prospettiva, i 100 brani selezionati dalla redazione finiscono per raccontare la storia della musica degli ultimi decenni, attraverso canzoni che hanno segnato l’immaginario e accompagnato generazioni diverse”.
